History

First procurement organisation dedicated to the maritime industry, Marcas is a highly reputable and dependable contracting association built over decades.

Marcas was originally established in 1999 as a supply chain solution to support V.Ships’ managed vessels under full technical management. In 2002, Marcas expanded its activities to the entire maritime industry, having secured an increased number of supplier agreements in its portfolio.

Having started with traders for spare parts and ship chandlers, over the years Marcas expanded to add lubes, chemical and gases, engine manufactures and other categories to its portfolio. By 2010, Marcas had agreements in place with 15 suppliers. In the last decade, Marcas significantly expanded becoming the most extensive supply chain entity in the maritime industry.

Today, Marcas offers optimised solutions by providing access to commodities and services volume agreements with over 300 suppliers located all over the world, serving all segments of the shipping industry.

Through our parent organisation V.Group, our association of shipping companies aggregates purchasing volume to obtain maximum value for goods and services, determined by a combination of price, quality, service, and assured supply and delivery.
